So, since the kids' birthdays are in November and January, I told them they could have a summer party today. They had friends from church, school and the neighborhood over for water balloons, sponge relays, an obstacle course, bobbing for apples, squirt guns, etc. and to eat; hotdogs, chips, lemonade, watermelon and ice cream sandwiches. We had about 19 kids show up so I would say it was a huge success and a good time for all.Friday, August 7, 2009

Before....& After

Funny story, Olivia got her haircut on Tuesday. The following Sunday Greg was already at church (he has meetings in the morning so we just met him there). Olivia had her head kind of down drawing a picture and Greg leans over and asks "Now who do we have here?"..."Oh, that's Olivia!" He really did not recognize her. This was the first time we had flipped her hair out. I started laughing my head off. He thought we had a friend visiting with us.

YAY, my mom just e-mailed me some pics
Whew, it's been a while
Well, our computer crashed. Long story, it's the kids' fault, though. Finally got it back and up and running, but Olivia and Noah were playing with my camera and broke it, so no pictures to post. Olivia got her hair chopped off, and I'll post pics as soon as I can. Zane and Noah got haircuts too, they're just not quite as drastic. What else can I say. Pretty boring life...

Pics from the temple 6/20/2009
It's hard to get a good picture of Noah these days. He wants to have an attitude as soon as I get the camera out.
It's also hard to get a good one of Zane. He is constantly on the move.

Olivia on the other hand, will gladly pose and is very photogenic. I LOVE this picture of her.
I wanted to get to the temple early enough that the kids could walk around and take it all in. We had a few minutes, so I snapped these photos.

Last Saturday we took my mom and dad's inflatable kayak and floated down the Sac River. It was a lot of fun. The kids want to do it every Saturday now. I don't think it was as much fun for Greg since he was the one paddling and carrying the boat when there was too much debris in the river. Carl and Willa went with us and used their neighbor's flat-bottom boat. I think everyone had a blast except Carl and Greg, they were pretty beat when it was over. Unfortunately we don't have a water-proof camera, so I didn't get any pictures of this event. The highlight was when there was a bull wading in the water. Greg decided to paddle the boat toward the bull. I was in the front of the boat...SCREAMING. I didn't know what the bull would do. I'm a city girl, ya know. As we got closer, the bull exited the river. I guess my squealing scared him off.

Microwave English Muffin Bread Recipe
Place 1/4 cup warm water in a warm bowl.
Stir in 1 pkg (1 Tbsp.) yeast until dissolved
add 1 cup warm milk
3 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. baking soda
Gradually add 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour and about 1 to 1 1/2 cups regular flour
Mix until a soft dough forms (it won't be like regular bread dough)
Grease a glass loaf pan and sprinkle with corn meal (this uses a little bit smaller loaf pan than normal). Pour in batter and sprinkle more cornmeal on top.
Cook on Medium (50% power) in microwave 1 minute
Let rest 10 minutes
Cook another 1 minute at Medium
Let rest to minutes
Continue until loaf has doubled in size, should only take about one more time at most.
Cook on High 4-6 minutes or until top is no longer moist. Let set in pan 5 minutes then remove to wire rack to cool. Slice and toast. DELICIOUS
