"Halloween! Halloween! Trick or Treat! Our Costumes Can't Be Beat!"

I truly love Halloween, although it TOTALLY stresses me out...so really I don't know why I say I love it because I hate stress. Anyway a few months back, for some reason, Zane came up with the idea that he wanted to be Colonel Sanders. So then I tried to encourage the other kids to come up with restaurant mascots so they could go with a theme. So Adley was Wendy, Noah was Little Caesar, Olivia was Panda Express and I was The Dairy Queen. The day after Halloween, Olivia had a couple of costume parties to go to and she had her cousin Avery over so we came up with a new theme for the two of them: Olivia was a boxer and Avery was her punching bag. Also, the boys had the opportunity to actually dress up for school. Zane went as Mike Wazowski and Noah was Clark Kent. And then of course we have my dad: Howdy Doody.

Funny things Adley says and does

Adley is a funny little character...sometimes without even meaning to be. A few months ago she started say "Dah" for yes. I think she is trying to say "yeah" but instead she just sounds Russian. Another funny thing she did: The other day we were dropping off girls from the afternoon carpool. One of them is named Hannah. Adley was trying to say "Bye Bye Hannah!" But it came out more like "Bye Bye Honeys". Everybody started laughing so now she says "Bye Bye Honeys" to all the girls as they exit the van. Lately we have started calling her the Hug and Kiss Nazi. Not because she withholds her loves, quite the opposite. She wants everybody to get their hugs and kisses before they can leave. For instance, Greg will leave for work. She will yell "HUGS!!!" so Greg will give her a hug and turn around to leave. Then she will yell, "TISSES!!!" So Greg will give her kisses and turn around to leave. Then she will insist, "HUG MAMA!!!!" and then "Tiss Mama!" So on and so forth until EVERYBODY has had their hugs and kisses. A couple weeks ago, my friend Laura babysat for me. I got home and as she was leaving, Adley screamed for hugs and kisses. So Laura complied. Then Adley urged Laura to give EVERYBODY in the house hugs and kisses. Luckily Greg wasn't home or that would have been awkward. If someone gets out the door without getting their proper amount of lovin' she cries and watches them out the window. It's quite pitiful. Something else she does? Say she has something in her hands like a toy, another kid comes up to her and takes it away (this happens in nursery all the time). She will say "Thank you" as they take off with her toy. This is also quite pitiful. When I go to put her to bed we have this nightly routine. We brush our teeth, give everybody hugs and kisses (of course) and then she practically jumps out of my arms to get into her crib. Then she says, "BYE! SEE YA!...BYE!!! SEE YA!!!" One day at nap time I caught her in bed talking to herself. She was saying "Daddy at work...Noah at school..." Then she started squealing with delight. She has started wanting to potty train although I'm not sure she's ready. Every time I go to change her diaper she says, "I go potty...bassroom". So I take her to the bathroom. Yesterday I set her on the toilet and left the room for just a minute to do something. I come back and she is sitting in the sink getting in to toothpaste and razors. She didn't know I had come back into the room, so when she noticed me, she kind of jumped and said, "You scare me!" I said, "I know! I scared you because you are doing something that you are not supposed to be doing!" Every time she says she needs to go to the bathroom, what she really wants to do is unravel the toilet paper, wash her hands, put lotion on, flush the toilet, brush her teeth, eat toothpaste, sit in the sink, take a bath, etc. etc. etc. ANYTHING BUT actually go pee or poo. Oh, and she loves the dentist. She has never actually been a patient at the dentist yet, but she went with me when I took the older kids. She wanted a front row seat to all the action. So I just had to take a picture:

This picture just makes me happy

LOVE THIS PICTURE OF GREG's DAD

"What is Boolsh"

The boys and I were talking about the movie "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2". In the movie there was something called the B.S.USB. I explained to the boys that it was not nice and that the B.S. stood for a bad word. Zane said, "What does it stand for?" I answered "Bull-Sh.." He asked, "What is Boolsh?" I then took it a little further and said, "BullShhh-t" He's like "What is BULLSHT?!?!" Sounds Russian. I'm glad he doesn't know what I was talking about. I need to learn to just keep my mouth shut.

Random Hobo...Hairy Dude

Noah was looking in Olivia's Personal Progress booklet and found the picture of Christ above. He said, "Olivia's book makes Jesus looks like some hairy dude! I don't want him to look like that! He looks like some random hobo." I said, "Well most of the people in his day had long beards and mustaches." He answered, "Except for ladies mom." True. I have to say though, there are some pictures of Christ that I like more than others. And some actors who portray Christ that I like better than others.
