While Olivia was at Girls Camp, I decided to completely re-do her bedroom. It was mostly pink and purple with some yellow and green and she hates Pink and purple. So I started several months ago checking the "Mis-Tint" paints at Lowe's and Home Depot. I found the light blue for $9 and then chose the dark blue and paid full price for a gallon of it. I found the desk in someone's driveway for free while driving around at garage sales. I used EZ strip and stripped the top then painted it. Total cost: less than $15. The stuffed chair, throw pillows and some of the other decor was also picked up for free. Her new dresser is one I found on craigslist for $25. I forgot to take a before picture of it, but it was kind of a "Tan Grey" color (gag). I had some help from my parents sanding it down and then we painted sides and decoupaged the drawers and top. I found some drawer pulls for 0.97 each so I spent less than $50 total on the dresser. I took the trundle drawer out of her old bed and turned it into a platform bed. I found the headboard for $2 and re-covered it with fabric (total cost for headboard: $9). I found the drapes at a garage sale for $3. The wall-hangings were found at garage sales and I re-spray painted most of them to fit the decor. Above her bed are some of her old drawings from art class. I picked up the light fixture from the Re-Store for 5 bucks and painted it a Robin's egg blue. The "Dream" canvas is something I found for $5 and I just cut the "Dream" out of vinyl and placed it on there. I did have to pay full price for the mirror above the desk: $27 and the rug I found at Gordman's but I had a $10 off coupon so I picked it up for 40. After it was all done, I sold her old day bed for $65. So really the room didn't cost much more than my time, sweat and maybe a few tears. It was so worth it when she got home. Now it's my favorite room in the house and I want to redo every room to fit the standard.
