Bullies

So...I was worried that the girls in 4th grade were going to start getting all hormonal and crazy and that the ones that Olivia thought were her friends would suddenly turn on her and make her a life a living you-know-what. I've heard that 4th grade can be pretty brutal for girls. I just had no idea that it would be the 4th grade BOYS who were causing all the trouble. A few weeks ago the school nurse called and said that a boy had kicked rocks in Olivia's face and that she had inhaled one and was now wheezing. I asked to talk to Olivia and she sounded fine but the nurse insisted that I have her seen by the pediatrician. Yes, I was mad at the little boy but I know there are two sides to every story so I wasn't sure what the whole story was. Both my young 'uns were asleep so I asked Greg if he could go get her and take her in. Anyway, it turned out she was alright. A week or so later the SAME boy is telling everyone that Olivia is a Lesbian. I am guessing it's because she doesn't get all giddy and stupid around boys. She is perfectly content with who she is and knows exactly how much trouble boys are (she has two younger brothers after all.) THEN, a different boy was making fun of her friend's leg brace (one that I think she has worn since birth). When Olivia got on to him and told him to be nice and leave her friend alone, he then proceeded to make fun of Olivia's glasses. Is it wrong that I want to kick these boys in the teeth?!?!?

The Scooter Store

Have you guys seen the commercial for "The Scooter Store"? I was watching "Let's Make a Deal" with Zane a while back and this commercial came on. It asks, "Does your health limit your mobility?" Zane says "Yes"..."Do you have trouble making it to the bathroom?" Zane answered "Yes"..."Do you feel like a bother to others because of your lack of mobility?" again "Yes"..."Have you fallen in the last 12 months?" "Yes"..."If you answered 'Yes' to any or all of these questions, call now to see if you qualify for a powered chair at little or no cost to you." Zane is pretty excited by this statement and says, "OK mom, give me your phone so I can call them!"
